Leaving a Legacy~ Guest Post #2

Please join me in welcoming my friend Jennifer today for the second installment of guest posts in the "Leaving a Legacy" series. Jenn blogs at Running This Thing Called Life. Her writing is poetic and heartfelt and I have a feeling you will love her as much as I do. Welcome, Jennifer!

Thank you Becky for giving me this chance to talk about legacy and for doing a series on legacy.
It challenged me to look into my own life and what I would want my kids, family and friends to remember about me.

Dear Ashley, Elyse and Madeline,
At night when you are sleeping in your beds,
I sneak in and whisper I love you.
I try and capture every moment I can to tell you.
I hug and kiss you at the ice rink,
at school, at church, in the grocery line.
I know you want me to stop.
I can't.
I will always hug and kiss and tell you I love you.

I thank God everyday I am your mom.

There will come a day when

our Heavenly Father calls me home,
I want you to remember this about me....
LOVE.

I know you will date.
 The boys already like you.
This is causing some havoc  on your dad.
He's not ready for you to grow up either.
I can see why they do... what's not to like??
You're beautiful and talented and sweet.
When you have your first boyfriend, you will be sooo in love,
that love, that feeling I want
you to have with Jesus.
Maybe you'll marry your first boyfriend,
maybe you'll date a hundred.
Maybe you will marry, maybe you won't.
But...
your relationship with Jesus,
It is the most important IN LOVE you can have.

~Luke 10:27~
Love the Lord your God with all your heart
& with all your soul,
& with all your strength
& with all your mind.
Love your neighbor as yourself.

People, family and friends can be hard at times
to love.
Some people make you want to  bang your head on the wall.
They can wear on your last good nerve.
I know....
But LOVE them anyway.
In fact... go out of your way for them.
You never know what God is doing in their lives,
and you might just be the one person
that can give them their last hope.

~John 13:34-35~
That you love one another, just as I loved you,
you also are to love one another,
by this all people will know that you
are my disciples, if you have love for one
another.

My heart's prayer and desire is that
you see my in~love~with~Jesus everyday.
That you see He is the one I love.
Even more than your dad.
Don't worry.
Your dad~ he kinda likes that I love Jesus more....
My heart's prayer is that I live my
life as Jesus lived.
Loving those who aren't always so lovable.
Like me.
Jesus loves me and you and all of us.
That love we show others, is the love
He has for us.
It shows a dark world light,
His light.

Remember love...

Remember the love I have for you.
Remember to be in love with Jesus
Remember to love others.

Love you~
mom

  2. It is so great to have you here today, Jennifer! I think that this focus on LOVE is such a great one- understanding God's love for us and then learning how this translates into loving others is crucial for our kids. So, thank you! Your words are beautiful!
