We woke up to more snow this morning. It is mesmerizing and beautiful.
Snow is one of my favorite things! Especially when I can sit inside and watch it fall gently out my window. My kids are in school (Western New Yorkers know how to handle the white stuff!) and my husband is at work (his commute is across the parking lot!).
And so, I sit here, enjoying the lovely winter wonderland that surrounds me. In this stillness, I am reminded again of why I love the month of January (and living in the Northeast!).
This month, I have been sharing a few of my favorite things. It started with The Advent Book (please tell me you have pre-ordered your copy?!!) and then I shared my favorite devotionals and CD's for kids. Last week, I talked about friendship and jewelry.
Today, I want to tell you about a few things that I purchased this year that are at the top of my favorite list. The reason that I want to share these things is that they will tell you a little bit more about me. And I figure that if I want you to tell me about your favorite things (join me for my first ever blog link up next Thursday!!!), then I should probably tell you about mine.
I LOVE discovering what other women love- I think this is why I am such a big fan of Pinterest. It is a beautiful thing for me to see how God has made us each unique with our own interests and passions. And I love to celebrate those things!
Without further ado... some of my favorite purchases of the past year!
1. My Nike Sneakers
No one has ever accused me of being a runner. I doubt anyone ever will, but I do love a good pair of running shoes. Prior to my trip to the Dominican Republic this past November, I went on a search for the perfect shoes- and I found them! These Nikes are incredibly lightweight and I love the colors. They make me smile every time I put them on.
2. Our new comforter set
For the first 10 years of our marriage, my husband and I had the same green comforter set that had been given to us as a wedding present.
I found it. At Walmart of all places! It is perfect for us, because the texture reminds me of coffee bags (my husband is an extreme coffee lover!) and the colors and designs inspire me. I am not particularly gifted in decorating, so finding something that we both love makes me happy!
3. My new desk
This is a one of a kind desk- hand painted by a local artist. When I purchased it, I planned on using our 4th bedroom as my office. God has been placing a dream in my heart to write and this was the first step in following that dream.
Then I found out that I was pregnant and our 4th bedroom will now be a nursery. I believe that God's timing and His plan is always perfect and so I am trusting Him. My desk is not in its own dedicated office space. I don't know if it ever will be. But this I know- I was able to find a desk that I absolutely love. A desk that beckons me to write. And no matter how small the space is or how different it looks from my expectations, I will be faithful to writing this dream that is on my heart.
As I close this post, it is snowing again. Sometimes the best things in life don't cost a thing!
Have you been thinking about your favorite things? Will you join me next Thursday- on my birthday!- and share those things with me? Whether it is a blog post or simply a comment, I want to know what you love.
Well you knew I would have to comment about those SHOES!!! Why they are lovely and look great on you, I too my friend stink at decorating, so not a talent of mine, but great job on the comforter. And that desk is gorgeous!! You could write in the hallway and the words you always write are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love your beautiful and unique desk!
ReplyDeleteLove that desk!
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss this! So beautiful and so insightful. That desk and comforter are both gorgeous. Of course, they pale in comparison to you, as do the comfort of those Nikes sweet friend. (Happy birthday!)
