Today is my birthday and so there will be lots of celebrating around these parts. Not because I'm anything special, but because God IS and He is the author of life. So we celebrate birthdays in a big way in the Daye family!

Of course, my son is sick and my daughter has dance class in the evening, so it won't be exactly what I would have hoped for. However, I like to believe that I have matured a bit over the years and I no longer expect January 31st to be all about ME!
(but if you offer me cake, I won't turn you away...)
Every Thursday this month, I have been sharing some of my favorite things. One of my most favorite things is to plan birthday parties! I have thrown a birthday party for all of my kids every single year because of this! I love coming up with a theme and then carrying it out. Some of my friends have even let me plan their kid's parties and that has been an absolute blast!
So, today I am going to share some of my favorite cakes/cupcakes that I have made through the years. I don't share these because I am an amazing baker or cake decorator- I'm not! But one of my absolute favorite things on my birthday was the moment when my mom would put the cake that she had decorated in front of me and I would open my eyes and see her love for me on display. I loved her cakes and every party that I plan, I pray that I am showing my kids this same love and that they know how special they are to me and to their Daddy!

Can you see why I have fun with this? I love when my kids are happy with their cakes. It makes all of the work worth it. Some turn out better than others, but they are always fun!

So very beautiful, Becky! I love all the amazing cakes and cupcakes. Another favorite thing that we have in common. I also love to make cakes for my babies. When they see their cakes, their little faces light up and that makes this mama happy!
