Five Minute Friday~ Race

It is Friday, so I am once again linking with Lisa-Jo Baker for 5 Minute Friday.  The challenge is to write on the given topic for 5 minutes without any editing- all for the pure love of writing.  Today's topic is "Race".

Race

"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?  Run in such a way as to get the prize."  ~1 Corinthians 9:24

My sweet children,

It has been a joy to watch you as you have competed in soccer this Fall.  I have watched you work hard and play hard.  I have watched as you have gotten hurt and kept on going.  I have watched as you stopped playing, because someone else got hurt and you wanted to make sure that they were okay.

And I am proud of you.

Because I have watched you learn the lesson of working hard.  It is not about winning all of the games that you play.  It is about running in such a way as to win the prize.

It is about training hard.

It is about making sure you take care of your body (and your spiritual health).

It is working with others- passing the ball and taking the shot when it is before you.

It is about getting up when you have been knocked down.

It is about cheering your team on.

It is about listening to your coach and the wisdom of those who have traveled the path of life before you.

It is about loving your friends and caring about them.

Whatever "race" you are in, work at it with all of your heart.  Don't push others out of the way to win.  But be an encourager to others as you strive to win the prize.

This my sweet ones is what is honoring to God.  And that is how you run in such a way as to win the prize.
