It was just within my grasp. Or so I thought.
I had worked hard to accomplish my goals. My dreams, my aspirations, my desires- they all were before me and I was stepping into them. Until...
...things changed. Again.
And as I watched them slip through my fingers, I learned an important lesson. All of these things don't change simply because my situation changes.
It is in the holding loosely of things that true satisfaction can be attained. It is not in the grasping for success that success is found.
Instead, success is much more like floating. Floating on God's grace. Trusting in His plan. In His timing. In what He desires.
"Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4
I taught this verse to my kids the other day. But I really taught it to myself. Again.
These dreams that we chase that we almost grasp are not meant to be caught. Instead, they are meant to change with our Father's will.
This is the place that I am at. So close, reaching, but finding that His plan far exceeds mine. His desires for me are beautiful.
And so, I will stop trying to grasp at these dreams and simply delight in the Lord.

DeleteThanks for visiting Marina's Kitchen Table for Five Minute Friday!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your post...especially "I will stop trying to grasp at these dreams and simply delight in the Lord."
AMEN!
I will wear those words on my heart this week, and stop *trying* to make life happen in this new here.
Grace and peace...
So thankful that you could find encouragement from my words, Marina!
DeleteOoh, that's some tough stuff to do. It's so easy to say, and tell others. When the rubber meets the road and it's your dream it's a whole other struggle. Why do we fight these simple truths so hard?? Thank you for this encouragement!
ReplyDeleteBut I'm learning that it is so good! I'm so glad that the dreams that I had when I was little are not the way my life has gone, ya know? They need to change as God works in us. Finally starting to understand this!
DeleteOh, wow, this is a whole other take on "grasp" for me! Perspective is kinda everything, isn't it. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt is! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!!

ReplyDeleteIndeed! His plans are so much better!
DeleteIt's funny how those verses we teach our kids resonate with us time and time again.
ReplyDeleteIt is one of the biggest blessings of being their mom- teaching them verses and falling more in love with scripture in the process!
DeleteHow often we are teaching ourselves again as we teach our children. So love that. That He speaks to us even in those moments. Thank you for sharing! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteAmen, delight in the Lord, always.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful and perfect way to look at it!!! <3
ReplyDeleteI love that you taught this to your kids. And that you (re)learned it with them. Beautiful words, my friend. Love you.
